POTSDAM – A Potsdam man has been charged with Leandra’s Law – a felony DWI – after village police discovered he had driven under the influence with his four-year-old daughter in the vehicle, and allegedly engaged in a domestic dispute at McDuff’s Tavern early Sunday.
Tobias J. Smith, 35, of Potsdam, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and felony driving while intoxicated – Leandra’s Law – for having a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle with him. Police state his blood alcohol level was .16 percent, above the .08 percent legal level.
Smith was arraigned by Village Justice Garner and remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,500 cash or $2,000 bond, to await further court action.
