POTSDAM – Village police charged a Potsdam man with aggravated driving while intoxicated and unsafe backing at midnight Monday following an alleged hit and run accident in Clarkson’s Cheel Center parking lot.
Police report they responded to a report of a hit and run and discovered that the suspect vehicle had backed into a parked vehicle and drove a short distance two rows over in the same parking lot before coming to a stop.
Patrols approached the suspect vehicle and found the operator, Daniel J. Davis, 58, Potsdam, asleep in the driver’s seat. Patrols were able to wake up Davis, and further investigation revealed that he was intoxicated.
