POTSDAM -- A criminal contempt charge against Oral "Nick" Hillary has been dismissed in Potsdam Town Court.
Hillary, formerly of Potsdam and now living in Brooklyn, in 2016 was acquitted of murdering 12-year-old Garrett Phillips in 2011.
The contempt charge stemmed from an accusation that on Sept. 18, 2015 he violated an order of protection by going through the drive-through at SeaComm Federal Credit Union in Potsdam where Phillips's mother, Tandy Cyrus Collins, is employed, according to court documents.
On Wednesday, Potsdam Town Justice Samuel Charleson dismissed the contempt charge on the grounds that the protection order didn't specifically state the names and addresses of places Hillary should have avoided.
