A Potsdam High School graduate and former securities broker is taking his creative urges to the Web with his third book published online.
The ebook “I Killed the Man who Wasn’t There,” a collection of four pieces by Darrel B. Nelson, has just been published and is available for free at smahswords.com.
The science fiction work includes, as Nelson describes them, “I Killed The Man That Wasn't There,” in which a man decides to keep his friends close and his enemies closer until he can remove them from space-time; “I Never Meant To Hurt You,” where a childish prank dooms mankind to slavery; “Conjunction,” a story of an astronaut who believes that his crewmates have had their minds taken over by an alien microbe; and “Cursed Ship,” where the commander of a moon shuttle doesn't believe in curses, until his career is ruined by one.
Nelson is a 1983 graduate of Potsdam High. He got degrees from SUNY Canton and SUNY Potsdam, and went to work in the securities and insurance businesses, which he has since left. He lives now in Kentucky.
Nelson says he “has decided to use the total meltdown of his former industry, and the total destruction of any illusions of financial security the meltdown caused, as an opportunity to pursue a writing career.”
He also have a novel published through PublishAmerica, at http://www.publishamerica.net/product89132.html
In the past year he has had his stories published in Ray Gun Revival, Distant Worlds, and AlienSkin Magazine.
