POTSDAM -- A Potsdam girl finished in first place in several categories at the United Taxidermists of New York convention in Auburn this past weekend.

Alexa Livernois, 9, entered her coyote pedestal mount in the game head category of the youth division. She mounted the coyote, did the finish work, and base work all by herself, her father Brian Livernois said.

Over 100 mounts were entered into the competition in different divisions based on experience, and different categories in each division based on species of animal.

Livernois received a first place, with a score between 90-100. She also received the Best of Category in the youth game head division, and won overall Best Of Show in the youth division for all mounts, chosen by the judges.

She is a fourth grade student at Lawrence Avenue in Potsdam.

Her father, Brian, owns Backwoods Taxidermy, 92 Ames Rd., Potsdam.
