POTSDAM -- The Town of Potsdam is planning to pave about six and a half miles of town roads with about $357,000 from state Department of Transportation programs this coming construction season.
Highway Superintendent John Keleher presented his plan to the Town Council at their meeting Tuesday night, Feb. 13.
The plans include sections Potter Road, Howardville Road, Bagdad Road, South Canton Road, Hatch Road, Old State Road, and Potsdam-Morley Road.
The funds come from two NYS DOT programs for local roads, about $290,000 from Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) and about $66,000 from PAVE-NY.
Keleher said the relatively new PAVE-NY program is currently slayed to continue only for one more year, and the DOT Winter Recovery Program, from which he expected to receive $55,000 for a section of Wright Road, has been “already removed” from the next state budget.
