POTSDAM -- The official public hearing on the Village of Potsdam's Draft Dissolution Study and Plan has been set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 20.

The hearing is to be in the A.A. Kingston Middle School cafeteria, subject to change.

Dissolution Study Committee Chairman Tim Connolly says it is vital for the public to be informed and take part.

“The committee continues to place a high priority on maximizing public awareness about the Dissolution Process and about their opportunities for involvement in it,” Connolly said.

He said he and fellow committee members are doing their best to get out the word on the hearing and the committee’s work through all channels and by person-to-person contact.

“The goal of this effort is to ensure accurate information about the process and the plan are readily available so people have a solid foundation of fact upon which to form their opinions about the dissolution question.”

To further that end, Connolly will make himself available at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, in the Civic Center Community Room to provide background and answer questions about the dissolution process, and again at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 12 in the Village Board Room.

Connolly says he will be there until at least 6:30 “and longer as needed both evenings. These events will be small ‘sit down’ meetings where people's questions and comments drive the discussion.”
