Potsdam High School, Williams High School in Canton, and Colton-Pierrepont High School are high schools in St. Lawrence County schools that placed in the top 200 high schools in the 2016 U.S. News high school rankings.
Potsdam Central School ranked 75th among New York's 1,205 public high schools, and is apparently the highest ranked high school in the North Country.
Potsdam has a 13-to-one student-teacher ratio, and a U.S. News "college readiness" score of 50.9.
Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton ranked 140th, with student-teacher ratio of 22-to-one and a "college readiness" score of 35.3
Colton-Pierrepont is ranked 158th, with an 8-to-one student-teacher ratio and a "college readiness" score of 31.
That puts all three schools among the top 16 percent of the 1,204 New York high schools.
Edwards-Knox Central School in Russell was ranked at 225 in the state The school's "readiness index" is 20.3.
All have a "silver" designation, which means they are "high-performing schools" with lower "college readiness" scores than "gold" schools, in U.S. News's estimation.
