POTSDAM – The Town Council has approved a new three-year contract with the 11 members of Teamsters Local 687 who work in the town offices.
Under the agreement, the members working full time will each receive a $1,200 annual raise, and part-timers will get $600 more a year.
The agreement also requires any employees hired after Jan. 1, 2019 to contribute $500 per year toward their health insurance. What they pay will be applied “in pre-tax dollars, before taxes are applied to their pay,” said Supervisor Ann Carvill.
In addition, Carvill said, the probationary period on newly hired Teamsters personnel will be increased from the current three months to 12 months.
The contract is for 2019 through 2021.
