POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force has been called in to investigate a suspected meth lab, and arrests are expected soon, according to village police.
A meth lab discovered in a house in the village was dismantled Friday as officers evacuated those living there.
No arrests have been reported yet but are pending, according to police.
The Potsdam Police Department received information Friday that there was a meth lab at 16 State St. Officers arriving at the scene were granted permission to enter and saw what they believed to be materials for producing meth, said Chief Kevin Bates. The officers evacuated the house and the county drug task force was called in.
A search warrant was obtained, and a task force member discovered what was a dangerous meth lab, Bates said, and not a small “one-pot” setup.
The state police hazardous materials team was brought in to dismantle the setup and collect samples for testing at their lab.
There has been no announcement of arrests as of Monday morning, but Bates said arrests could be imminent.
