SOUTH COLTON – An arrest has been made in the case of the porta-potty shooting.
Camrin A. Guido, 18, 1057 Howardville Rd., Pierrepont, is charged by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office with fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, accused of shooting holes in a portable toilet near the Racquette Valley Fish and Game Club's shooting range in November and encouraging two boys to do the same.
The shooting prompted the fish and game club to close down its shooting range.
“Obviously, the person or people that did this are not responsible hunters and should not even be in the woods,” said club treasurer Mary Long at the time. “It is sad to think that it could have been one of our members as the only people that are supposed to be there with firearms are members due to the liability of our organization. This is another case of an irresponsible person or people ruining the privileges that are offered to the public,” Long said.
The portable toilet had been placed near the range by the Town of Colton for workers at the sand pit there to use.
Guido will be arraigned in Colton Town Court Jan. 24.
Orders of protection were issued for the two boys who were allegedly encouraged to join Guido in the shooting.
