PHCS athletes raise $700 for Colton-Pierrepont student injured in ATV accident

PARISHVILLE -- Members of the Parishville-Hopkinton Boys Varsity Soccer Team canvassed the community recently collecting bottles to support Lucas Duvall’s family.

The players raised approximately $700 from their efforts.

Some bottle donations are still coming in, said a press release.

Lucas, a 16-year old junior at Colton-Pierrepont High School and former classmate of the PHCS boys, was involved in a serious ATV accident on Sept. 28 shortly after watching his new and former classmates play each other in a soccer match in Colton.[img_assist|nid=245844|title=Duvall|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=150|height=199]

Lucas underwent surgery to repair a broken femur and lacerations -- all of which went well, but complications from injuries left him fighting for his life.

Lucas was medevaced to Golisano Children's Hospital in Syracuse on Sept. 30 where his vitals were stabilized but he remained in critical condition and on ventilation for several weeks.

The breathing tube was removed Oct. 10 and while he continues to make improvements everyday, Lucas still has a very long recovery road ahead -- the extent of which still isn’t known at this time, the press release said.

His mother, Dawn Marie Fenner, and other family members have been by his side every step of the way.

Medical bills and travel/lodging expenses are compounding this already difficult time for Lucas and his family.

Other fundraising efforts are planned including a spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 3-7 p.m. on Nov. 10, at the Pierrepont Fireman’s Hall.

Donations for the dinner and auction items are needed. Those interested in donating can contact Amanda Hill at 315-212-6498 or mrsamandahill82@gmail.com .
