CANTON – A person of interest in a larceny case has called the Canton Police Department to say that she will return to Canton to discuss the case.
Canton Police Chief Victor Rycroft says that since NorthCountryNow.com published pictures Thursday of the person of interest, they received several calls Thursday and early Friday identifying the person.
And Rycroft said that at mid-morning Friday, the person herself called saying she was out of the area but would be returning to Canton and would report to the police when she does.
Rycroft said it was too early to discuss details of the case, but wanted to express thanks to NorthCountryNow.com for cooperation in getting the person in the photo identified.
“We got a sizeable number of tips between 7 and 10:30 p.m., and several more Friday morning before she called,” he said.
He said she has not been charged, and that police would “interview her when she returns to Canton in a couple of days.”
“On behalf of the department I want to thank your readers for calling in, as numerous tips were provided which enabled our officers to eventually speak with her,” Chief Rycroft said.
