County Legislator for Rick Perkins will run again for his seat as District 7 representative for the towns of Hopkinton, Parishville, Colton, Pierrepont, Clare and Piercefield.

“I am excited to announce my plans to run again for the position of St. Lawrence County Legislator District 7,” Perkins, a Democrat, said in an email to North Country Now.

“I run for this public office because I believe I have made a difference. I have worked across party lines to help improve the financial condition that the County has endured, we have strived to keep property taxes from increasing (in actuality they have decreased slightly) while maintaining essential services,” he said in his email.

“There are still many challenging issues facing the county and its townships, such as the unfunded mandates the State imposes onto the county. I would like to be part of trying to solve them,” he said.

“I also believe we need to try and create an environment that will provide our children the opportunities to remain in our beautiful north country. It is also my belief in supporting the St Lawrence County Multi-Use Trails, the Bass Masters; as these are important recreational activities for our north country that is a great source of revenue,” Perkins said.
