Parishville-Hopkinton Central announces Class of 2018 leaders

PARISHVILLE -- Parishville-Hopkinton Central School named Abigail White as its valedictorian and Clare Snell its salutatorian of the Class of 2018.

White has earned a seven-semester 96.56 averageand will graduate with an advanced designation regents diploma with honors and mastery in mathematics and science.

She has fulfilled the requirements for local majors in mathematics, science, Spanish, social studies, English and visual arts.

She has been on high honor roll every quarter since seventh grade. She has achieved multiple highest achievement awards and taken several college courses throughout her high school career.

White has been ranked first in her class since junior high.

White has taken part in many extracurricular activities that PHCS has to offer, including being president of National Honor Society and high school band. She has also been a member and an officer of the Student Council, and involvement in the Geology Club. She is also president of her senior class.

Outside of school, she has participated in Relay For Life, Red Cross blood donations, Project Challenge and volunteered time to assist the Special Olympics.

She played five years of varsity soccer, earning two defensive MVP of the league awards, and three First-Team All-Northern honors, along with captain titles. She also played four years of varsity softball, and three years of varsity basketball. White earned Academic All-Northern awards in all three sports.

She will attend college in the fall, undecided of her major. However, she is interested in psychiatry and law. White has not yet made a decision on where she will be enrolling this fall.

Snell is the daughter of Gary and Michelle Snell of Parishville. She has attended PHCS since kindergarten.[img_assist|nid=235342|title=Clare Snell|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=250|height=216]

She earned a seven-semester 96.25 average, and will graduate with an advanced designation regents diploma with honors and mastery in mathematics and science. She has fulfilled the requirements for local major sequences in mathematics, science, spanish, social studies, English and visual arts.

Snell has participated in numerous extracurricular activities. She is a member of National Honor Society and Student Council, and is the president of the district band. She has participated in Foreign Language Club and Geology Club, in addition, she has attended Project Challenge and Horizons at Clarkson University.

Outside of school, she also works in her family’s apple orchard throughout the year.

She has played four years of varsity basketball, earning Second-Team All-Northern honors in her junior and senior year, and served as a captain for three years, She participated in cross-country and track at Norwood Norfolk Central School, also serving as captain. Snell ran at the NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championship meet this past November. She has earned Academic All-Northern in all three sports.

She plans to attend Albany College of Pharmacy to pursue a doctorate in pharmacy.
