PARISHVILLE -- A 17-year-old Parishville girl plans to again raise money for her school’s music program and provide entertainment for the community with Musicality 2016.

This will be the fifth year of the fundraiser. Musicality 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 were successful in raising over $8,000.00 in cash and musical instrument repair kits for the school.

Amanda J. Mason says she really enjoys all types of music and she is working hard to make this year’s program a success as well.

The past two years she attended SUNY Potsdam’s Crane Youth Music summer camp. She came away invigorated and motivated to share her love of music with her community.

“Music is the most important thing in my life,” she says. “Budget cuts are scary, I don’t know what we would do without our music programs. So many life experiences would be lost for children of the community if the programs were cut. This event is my service to my school and community to keep the music in our school system with as much funding as possible so that the students can have a quality, educational and well-rounded experience.”

All profits from the event will benefit the Parishville Hopkinton Central School music program.

Musicality 2016 will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Parishville Hopkinton Central School, 12 County Route 47.

There will be Rosies Hawg Dogs, St. Lawrence Valley Roasters coffee, a bake sale, face painting, fun photo area, coloring area, musical instrument petting zoo, silent auction, music lessons, novelties, 50/50 raffle, and of course musical performances by musicians from our local area such as Jack Kelley’s Little Big Band, Woody Jiang, Bruce Dewey, Plan B, Jacob Fisher, and Dr. Michael Schaff.

Mason is looking for people to work as volunteers to help run the booths, set up and clean up, bake goodies for the bake sale, and people to offer music lessons.

There is room for a few more musical entertainers for the day too.

People interested in donating gift baskets, raffle items, or money towards Musicality 2016 can call Mason at 265-8775 or email ajm8775@gmail.com or mail to 31 Woodruff Road, Colton, NY 13625. She also has a GoFundMe page for Musicality 2016; to donate online visit https://www.gofundme.com/2ch8sz53

Donations/checks can be made out to ”PHCS Band Extracurricular Fund”

“It is a fun, family oriented way to help a worthy cause,” she said.
