WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bill Owens says with the passage of an extension of Unemployment Insurance benefits, workers facing the task of finding a job might find it “a little easier.”
Passage in the House of Representatives of an extension of emergency unemployment benefits Thursday sent the temporary extension to the president, who signed it into law.
“After weeks of needless delay, I am pleased to see the extension of these sorely needed benefits for Upstate New York’s unemployed,” Owens, running for re-election, said.
“While out of work New Yorkers face the stress of finding a job in a tough economy, relieving this worry hopefully makes the process a little easier,” he said. “I hope in the future, partisan politics won’t stand in the way of doing what is right for our working families struggling to make ends meet.”
