OSWEGATCHIE – The second annual Oswegatchie Delta Music Festival will grow this year with national music act Les Dudek, vendors and food vendors July 11-12.

“Last year we had music…but this year we’ve had more time to plan and get organized to offer a little bit more,” said Pat Duffy who is organizing the event.

Duffy, who plays in his own band, said he was brainstorming with friends about how to “throw a rock show together” and came up with the idea to hold a festival.

The event will take place at Hosmer’s Marina, 54 East River Rd. starting on Friday at 6 p.m. with Ogdensburg high school student Alexa Hooper. Hooper will sing some of her original music.

Well-known local bluegrass musician and North County Public Radio personality Barb Heller will show her musical talents at 6:30 p.m. with Carrie and the Nomads playing at 7:30 p.m. and Annie in the Water offering a mix of high energy ska and punk sounds to close out Friday’s entertainment at 8:30 p.m.

Les Dudek has played alongside The Steve Miller Band and Boz Scaggs and his work has been strongly influenced by the sounds of the legendary Allman Brothers Band.

His sound can be described as southern rock with some blues and jazz thrown in.

“Dudek was actually travelling through New York and found our festival. His representatives called us and asked to be a part of it,” Duffy said.

He will take the stage Saturday night at 8 p.m.

There will be about 20 vendors including arts, crafts, food, wineries, caricature artists and a guitar builder.

A hand-built guitar made by Duffy will be raffled off and many acts will be selling CD’s and t-shirts at merchandise tables.

Live music will kick off Saturday at noon with “Jimmy Buffett-style” solo act Warren Harman, followed by Danny Barkley at 1 p.m., Milwalkee Talkee will offer their jazz-ska melodies at 1:30 p.m. with Carrie Woodcock Montgomery at 2:30 p.m. and Last Note entertaining at 3 p.m.

Canton-based band the Waydown Waylers will play an hour set at 4 p.m. Their music has been referred to as “edge of the swamp rock, blues, and jam with a twist of Americana, according to their website. They are currently signed to Woodstock Records

“Quite a few of the bands have music on Itunes and I encourage people to check them out,” Duffy said.

Les Dudek, the Waydown Waylers and The Pat Duffy Band all have music available for purchase online, according to Duffy.

Starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday Nick Langley will play his style of music which is similar to the sounds of popular 90s band Blink 182, Duffy said.

Cover band DRAGNFLY will perform at 5:30 p.m. with the Pat Duffy Band hitting the stage at 6:30 p.m.

Following the performance from Dudek the festival will move inside for the final two acts.

“Due to noise regulations Juggernaut Agenda and Sludge Factory will play at Club 1812,” Duffy said.

Club 1812 is located on Lake Street.

Sludge Factory is an “Alice in Chains” tribute band that has toured all over New York and is based out of Albany, according to Duffy.

To purchase tickets in advance for $10, call Pat at 528-0430 or like the Oswegatchie Delta Music Festival on Facebook and message them.

Tickets will be $15 at the festival and will gain attendees admittance both Friday and Saturday.
