OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg residents will soon have a new option for morning dining when Dixie Lee begins serving breakfast later this week.
Pamela Thayer, who owns the restaurant along with her husband Michael, said Dixie Lee will begin serving breakfast from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday.
Dixie Lee, which has been operated under several owners since the 1970s, is well known for its fried chicken dinner and lunches.
Since the Thayers purchased the restaurant in January of 2012, Pamela says her brother and manager Brian Briggs has been pushing to expand the menu.
"My brother is a huge breakfast cook. It's basically what he has done all of his life," she said.
Thayer said the menu will offer a wide variety of traditional breakfast meals including eggs, pancakes, waffles, French toast, breakfast sandwiches, cereals, sides and more.
"There will be a good variety," she said.
Fans of the existing menu will still be able to get their favorites from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The Thayers will celebrate their one-year anniversary as owners on Feb. 3.
