OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center's Rev. Thomas T. Patterson Wound Healing Center will be raising awareness of chronic wounds this week through June 6.
The center's program director will visit local physician offices to educate staff on identifying patients in need of advanced wound care.
Instances of chronic wounds are on the rise, according to a statement from Claxton-Hepburn. They say it is due to factors such an aging population and increased rates of diabetes, obesity and late effects of radiation therapy.
