Ogdensburg woman charged with welfare fraud amounting to more than $3,000 in benefits

OGDENSBURG –An Ogdensburg woman has been charged with welfare fraud amounting to more than $3,000 in benefits.

St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Lianne M. Osgood, 24, of County Rt. 4, Ogdensburg, following an investigation by the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services Investigations Unit.

Investigators charge she received $3,124 in temporary assistance and Food Stamps that she was not entitled to, between Feb. 1 and May 31, 2011.

Osgood was arraigned in Oswegatchie Town Court on charges of third-degree welfare fraud and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She was released to probation supervision pending further court action.
