OGDENSBURG – Mayor William D. Nelson is requesting a special city council meeting Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. to review documents on 819 Knox St. with the city attorney.

"The 819 Knox St. issue is being fully vetted and will be reviewed by city council," Nelson wrote in a memo sent out to media Friday. "The city has completed compilation of all data, contracts, emails and communications in relation to 819 Knox St."

The mayor states the documents have been presented to the city attorney, Andrew Silver, for review and assemblage. Silver will then determine what procedures were not conformed to and/or were not in place.

"In addition, I will be requesting a council review of the housing program and neighborhood stabilization program to ensure that these programs and implementation plans approved by city council are being carried out accordingly," the mayor said. "The city council is responsible for the approval of the two programs and the city staff is responsible for implementing the programs to ensure they are carried out in according with the guidelines and procedures."

Nelson said, with this review, he wants to survey the process for selection of what properties and individuals will be or have been awarded funding.

"Our goal is to safeguard the process so it is fair and equitable to ensure all residents and businesses that qualify are notified and included in the review process," he added.

Nelson said he will also be calling a meeting of the Growth Fund Board of Directors to review the Main Street programs and the grants they administer there. He added he would call additional meetings if necessary as the review process continues.
