OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg Mayor Wayne Ashley has called for Monday’s city council meeting to begin at 6 p.m. in order to accommodate an executive session.

The notice was issued Feb. 19, but dated Feb. 15.

Citing public meetings law without being specific, the notice says the council will discuss the medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation.

But whether the discussion will focus on a corporation, a person, or both remains unknown.

City Manager Sarah Purdy confirmed the regular meeting would include a resolution regarding a contract between the city and Everything 4 Entertainment, which is looking to host ta large-scale concert in the city. That resolution would set a date for a public hearing, which would be held before the contract is approved.

It is unclear if the executive session, prior to the regular meeting, will include discussion of Riverfest.

City Manager Sarah Purdy said she has not asked the city attorney to attend the executive session.

However, the call for a closed meeting does come on the heels of city action Feb. 11 to open an investigation into the residency of Councilor Shawn Shaver.

The resolution was prompted by concerns raised by the public regarding whether the councilor lived in the city limits as required by law.

Shaver, a Republican, who resided at 610 New York Avenue when he was elected to office in November 2017, has since sold that property. Shaver says he is still a resident of the city and resides at 603 Rosseel Street, a single-family residence, which is owned by his brother Charles Shaver.

In August of 2018 he purchased property at 46 Loafers Lane in the Town of Lisbon.

Shaver says that property is a camp and that he doesn’t live there.

It is unclear if the city will discuss the investigation during the executive session.
