OGDENSBURG — Ogdensburg police have charged a man with murder.
Michael A. Gagnon, 51, was arrested following an incident at his residence at 711 Jefferson Ave. on Saturday, April 7 at 12:58 a.m. said police.
Police said they initially responded to the report of a gunshot at the residence and inside found Phillip B. Goolden, 50, fatally wounded. Goolden was not a resident of the address.
The coroner was at the scene at 12:39 p.m., police said.
Gagnon was taken into custody and held at the Ogdensburg police department pending his arraignment. He later appeared before Judge Alford at 9:21 p.m. and was subsequently remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
No bail amount was set.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Ogdensburg Police Department at 315-393-1555.
The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Investigations Unit, and Bureau of Criminal Investigations, who were instrumental in this investigation, along with assistance from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, and St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary Pasqua.
