OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg’s Holiday Light Up the Night Parade will be held in November beginning at Ogdensburg Free Academy.

Ogdensburg City Council gave approval at the regular meeting Monday for the organization to run the parade up State Street.

Mayor Wayne Ashley said the event is one of the city’s larger Christmas events and it continues to grow and expand every year.

The parade will start at 6:30 p.m. at OFA and continue to Ogdensburg Dobisky Visitors’ Center, where residents will have an opportunity to visit Santa Claus.

Mayor Ashley said he was pleased to see the success of the event and added that children from the city and nearby towns always look forward to it.

The parade typically includes a variety of floats from businesses and organizations as well as vehicles from the fire department and police agencies, said event organizer Kathy Bouchard.

The Greenbelt area is also traditionally decked out in holiday decorations and lights.

Parents can bring cameras or cellphones to take photos of their kids with Santa.
