OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg City Council approved the sale of State Street property Monday.
The council approved the sale of 729-737 State Street to Douglas and Barbara Spooner for $3,750.
An auction for the property was held Oct. 19 at City Hall.
The 97-foot by 73-foot lot is located on the corner of State and LaFayette Streets, which is zoned residential/business.
The city council has been actively working to get surplus properties back on the market.
In July the city approved the sale of at least three properties including a lot on Monroe Avenue for $5,150, a parcel at 815 Jefferson Avenue for $4,250 and a parcel at 1420 Ford St. for $1,950.
Ogdensburg City Councilors have been working to increase the tax base by putting properties back on the tax rolls through sales. Although the properties did not bring in a large amount of cash for the financially struggling city the properties will now be back on the tax rolls.
