OGDENSBURG – The Ogdensburg City School District Board of Education approved 14 sports mergers with Heuvelton Central School District and one outgoing merger request to Canton Central School District for the 2018-19 fall and winter sports seasons at last Monday’s meeting.
Girls sports to be merged with Heuvelton Central include modified and varsity cross country, swimming and indoor track as well as modified volleyball.
Mergers with Heuvelton Central for boys modified and varsity cross country and indoor track were also approved, along with wrestling mergers at the modified, junior varsity and varsity levels.
The proposed request to Canton Central for girls varsity hockey indicates that Ogdensburg Free Academy expects six to seven student athletes to potentially play for Canton’s team, should the request be approved by Canton, as OFA does not offer girls varsity hockey.
