The state Department of Environmental Conservation is recommending St. Lawrence County for the fall turkey hunting season.
From Oct. 1 to 14, DEC suggests turkey hunters try Fish Creek Wildlife Management Area, south of Black Lake, and Beaver Creek State Forest, south of County Rt. 10 in the Town of Gouverneur, in St. Lawrence County.
Turkeys are plentiful in New York and are one of the most popular game birds. These two areas offer thousands of acres of good turkey habitat, DEC says.
