POTSDAM — Bobby Gordon, the Adult Literacy Coordinator for the Potsdam Public Library, discusses the many literacy-related programs for anyone in St. Lawrence County offered by the library with NCM host Donna Seymour in the newest video in the series.

Literacy is much more than learning to read and the program covers writing, speaking, math, among other topics. The YouTube link for this show is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXUFjYICW8g.

One feature of the program they are hoping to expand is Conversational Partners. Currently the LIFE program operates three Conversations for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners. All take place in the Community Room at the Public SafetyBuilding and run on Mondays from 4-7 pm, Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm and on Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 am. In addition, Gordon hopes to instate some one-on-one conversations with volunteers.

Literacy training is available from the library and consists of four 3-hour sessions. If you are interested in getting the training, contact Bobby Gordon at the Potsdam Public Library at 315-265-7230 or email her at bgordon@potsdamlibrary.org.
