POTSDAM -- A Norfolk man was charged with squeezing his significant other’s throat in front of a 10 year old child during a domestic dispute.
Joshua J. Gurrola, 19, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, fourth degree criminal mischief, and obstruction of breathing, all class A misdemeanors, according to the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
Gurrola was also charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation, deputies said.
Gurrola allegedly had a verbal argument with his significant other during which he broke a DVD player, pushed the victim’s head into a vehicle window and grabbed the victim’s throat and squeezed, according to sheriff’s deputies.
A 10-year-old child reportedly witnessed the dispute, including the squeezing, deputies said.
Gurrola was arraigned and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, according to deputies.
Orders of protection were issued for both the victim and the child, deputies said.
He will reappear in Potsdam Town Court at a later date, deputies said.
