On Wednesday, deputies say they charged Mikle N. Lavare, 30, of 81 Lacomb Rd., Norfolk with a felony count of second-degree assault.
Deputies say the arrest stems from an Oct. 28 incident where they responded to what was originally reported as a “serious personal injury” motor vehicle accident on state Route 56.
Deputies say they were told a 22-year-old woman had fallen out of Lavare’s vehicle while it was in motion. She was taken by Potsdam Rescue Squad to University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment.
Deputies say they later determined that was not the case, and Lavare ran over the woman.
Lavare was arraigned in Canton Town Court by Justice Michael Morgan and released under probationary supervision, deputies said.
