NORFOLK -- A Norfolk man was charged with what police described as a strong arm robbery Thursday.
Massena-based state police charged Matthew J. Allen, 28, Norfolk, with third-degree robbery, a class D felony.
Troopers say an investigation revealed Allen, while in a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, approached three people who were walking on a sidewalk on West Main Street and demanded money from one of the individuals.
Allen is also accused of threatening physical harm to the 19-year-old male victim. He then allegedly took a small sum of money from the victim and fled by vehicle.
Troopers soon located the vehicle, however, Allen was no longer in it. Troopers say he later turned himself in to Ogdensburg-based state police.
He was arraigned in the Town of Norfolk Court and released under the supervision of probation to reappear on October 22, 2014, at 9 a.m.
