Norfolk man arrested, jailed for assault, slashing tires of victim's vehicle during violent dispute

LOUISVILLE – A Norfolk man was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail Saturday following his arrest on ten charges including assault and slashing four tires on a victim’s vehicle during a domestic dispute, accoring ot sate police.

William R. Gardner IV, 20, of 1122 County Route 26, Norfolk was charged Saturday with third degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing against the victi The victim was treated at Massena Memorial Hosital for injuries received during the incident at his residence in the Town of Louisville on Friday.

During the incident, Gardner damaged several items within the house and damaged four tires on the victim's vehicle, all in the presence of three minor children, police said. The victim had an order of protection against Gardner from a previous domestic incident, police said.

Gardner was also charged with second, third and fourth degree criminal mischief; ciminal contempt first degree; three counts of endangering the welfare of a child; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; unlicensed opeartor; and failure ot notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change, police said.

He was processed at state police headquarters in Massena and arriagned in Louisville Town Court by Town Justice V. Gettmann. At the recommendation of the St. Lawrence County District Attorney's Office, Gardner was sent to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 secured bond.
