NORFOLK – A Norfolk man has been arrested for allegedly falsely claiming his wife’s dog was a stray.
According to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, Christopher A. Bernard, 45, of 422 Regan Rd., was charged Sunday with falsely reporting an incident third degree for reporting to the town animal control officer that a beagle dog was a stray.
The animal control officer picked up the dog and took it to the Potsdam Animal Shelter.
Just before the dog was to be adopted by another person, animal shelter staffers determined the dog belonged to Bernard’s wife by means of identification markings, deputies said.
The dog has since been returned to the wife, deputies said.
