Northern New York Community Foundation board of directors has approved grants totaling over $70,577 to North Country organizations.

The Watertown-based foundation approved, among others, grants to:

• Community Performance Series, Potsdam - $5,000 in support of their “From the Top” program partnership with North Country Public Radio.

• St. Lawrence County Historical Association - $4,200 to assist in exterior repainting of their headquarters at the historic Silas Wright House in Canton.

• Catholic Charities - $3,000 to assist with community education programs relating to domestic violence issues.

• Riverview Park Association, Gouverneur - $2,500 to fund ongoing improvements and upgrades to the park.

• Sustainable Living Project, Canton - $1,000 to provide funding for a featured speaker at their Local Living Festival in September.

The Northern New York Community Foundation manages and administers a permanent endowment and funds for the benefit of the community. Guided by a board of community leaders, the foundation makes grants to support the work of non-profit organizations and provides scholarships to individuals in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties.
