Newly merged parish in Colton conducting outreach campaign to build unity, solidarity

COLTON -- Volunteers from St. Patrick’s Parish will be contacting parishioners during the Lenten and Easter seasons in an effort to build unity and solidarity within the newly merged parish.

In 2010, the parishes of St. Paul in South Colton, St. Michael in Parishville, and St. Patrick were merged with the name St. Patrick Parish. Following the merger, the Parishville and South Colton church buildings were designated Oratories.

“Whenever their are external changes to a parish, some members may feel left out or left behind,” said Msgr. Robert H. Aucoin reflected. “A goal of this telephone ministry is to assure all parishioners that the parish of St. Patrick’s wants to be present and respond to their spiritual needs and wants. We hope to strengthen our parish unity and solidarity in this effort.”

During their phone calls, parishioners will also be updating census records to make sure information is current and accurate. In addition to name, address, and phone number, the volunteers will be asking for e-mail addresses. “Having email addresses on file will allow us to contact parishioners more quickly and efficiently. In presenting the Gospel message, we want to use all means at our disposal,” said Msgr. Aucoin further commented:

St. Patrick’s Parish is linked with St. Mary’s in Potsdam. The two parishes maintain a modern web presence at http://stmarystpatrick.net. For more information, contact Msgr. Aucoin at pastor@stmarystpatrick.net
