POTSDAM -- A New York City public relations firm behind the website truthfornickhillary.com is circulating an email aimed at capitalizing on recent controversy surrounding St. Lawrence County District Attorney Mary Rain.

The email validates concerns brought forward by county Legislator Rick Perkins, who questioned what impact a no-confidence vote in the district attorney might have on the Oral Nick Hillary trial.

County legislators Monday night voted 10-3  in favor of calling on the state to initiate an investigation for the potential removal of Rain. Hillary is scheduled to go on trial in August for the strangling death of Garrett Phillips, 12, in the boy's mother's Potsdam apartment in 2011.

Rain declined comment regarding the email, titled “Will St. Lawrence Legislators Also Ask Gov. Cuomo To Look Into Nick Hillary's Unlawful Indictment? Interviews Available.”

The email comes from Mark Goldman, of Goldman McCormick PR, a national firm specializing in “traditional media and social media placement for law, finance, media, and corporate based clients.”

Mark Goldman, who spoke on behalf of the organization, claims he does not work for Hillary.

“We are a public relations firm. We believe highly in this case and we are doing this pro bono,” he said when asked who was paying him.

Goldman said he has been circulating emails regarding the case for months and with the “no-confidence” vote taken by the legislature Monday night, it was the right time to act.

The email from Goldman says interviews are available with “Nick Hillary (a target of Mary Rain) and his Civil Law Attorney Lisa Maroccia.” But a phone call Goldman revealed that only the attorney would be available to speak.

Goldman said his firm was responsible for getting the case much of its press, including an article in the New York Times.

Goldman stated that Hillary’s attorney would return a phone call, but she has not yet done so.

The body of the email sent by the firm follows:

Interviews Available with Nick Hillary (a target of Mary Rain) & his Civil Law Attorney Lisa Maroccia

• DA Mary Rain ran for office on the promise of convicting Nick Hillary before she was ever privy to any evidence in the case.

• DA Rain's first indictment of Hillary was overturned due to prosecutorial misconduct.

• DA Rain has been accused by her former chief ADA of having an enemies list and of misusing the Grand Jury process against people she dislikes.

• DA Rain is now being investigated by the FBI, The Committee of Ethical Conduct, and is currently operating without the confidence of the elected legislators of St. Lawrence County.

• DA Rain's indictment of Nick Hillary should be investigated by outside agencies to determine whether or not it was a product of a campaign promise, misuse of the grand jury or ticking off a name from her "enemies list"- Truth for Nick Hillary.

Facts About Nick Hillary’s Case

• Potsdam, New York Resident & Military Veteran Nick Hillary (http://www.truthfornickhillary.com) is a father of five children whose life has been turned upside down for a murder he did not commit.

Potsdam police Lt. Mark Murray and former Chief Edward Tischler said in court documents that there's no evidence placing Hillary at the 2011 crime scene, the Watertown Daily Times reported.

• In the court documents, Tischler stated that neither Hillary's fingerprints nor DNA evidence were able to connect Hillary to the boy's death. Both Murray and Tischler stated that there are no witnesses who saw Hillary at Market Street apartment on the day Phillips was killed.

• Hillary was reindicted on murder charges in January 2015 after the charges were dropped in October 2014. The original charges were dropped due to accusations that Rain and other prosecutors improperly questioned witnesses and injected their own opinions to the grand jury.
