MASSENA -- The Massena Memorial Hospital Board of Managers and Town of Massena Board members recently received a letter from the hospital’s medical staff asking for representation and participation in the process to determine the affiliate for the hospital.
Newly elected board chair, Carol Fenton, in response sent a request to Town Supervisor Steve O’Shaughnessy and Town Council members suggesting that the hospital Board of Managers, Town Board, senior hospital management, physician core committee and union leadership all meet together.
“We are planning to extend invitations to both Crouse Health and St. Lawrence Health Systems for informative presentations regarding affiliation. We believe that this will provide the needed information to make an educated decision for the future of our hospital,” MMH spokesperson Tina Corcoran said in a news release. “We look forward to moving this process forward with the town board and other interested parties and working together towards the mutual objective ensure there is a long term viable full-service hospital in Massena.”
