CANTON – The village has received a shipment of lapel pins featuring a new Canton brand image.
The pins, available at the village clerk’s office, will be distributed to help market economic development endeavors, said Mayor Michael Dalton at a recent village board meeting.
The design features two canoeists paddling out of a sunrise. Artist Richard Cassara worked with Canton historian Linda Casserly on the design, said Dalton.
The village, sitting on the banks of the Grasse River, is the historical home of famed canoe and guide boat builder J.H. Rushton who began building boats in Canton in 1875.
The pin design hints at this historical angle and at recent efforts to redevelop the village waterfront.
