POTSDAM — A new boutique offering products made by local women will open this week on Market Street in conjunction with the 50th Potsdam Summer Festival.

Grace Boutique, 78 Market St., will offer hours from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

They will open with regular business hours next week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The business is owned by Rachel Lucid and Rae Snell.

Snell said the women decided to open a store to “support local women who want to feature their work.”

All items for sale are made by women. Nearly all products are made in the North Country, and all are made in New York State

The store will sell women’s clothing, baby items, bath and body products, jewelry, antiques and more.

Snell and Lucid approached vendors to sell their items at their new shop and found most of them through word of mouth, Snell said.

“We want to show other local people that we are supporting them and that it’s possible that if you have a dream it can come true,” Snell said.

As part of their opening during the summer festival, free chair massages with Clara Fargo will be offered on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Raffles will be held as well.

A book signing with Jenny Morrill and Paula Youmell, co-authors of Weaving Healing Wisdom, is slated for Friday. They will give away a small gift to the first 100 guests.

Snell said the name of the boutique, Grace, “embraces a way to live life and treat people.”
