Morristown teens take top honors in class of 2014

MORRISTOWN -- The Morristown Central School class of 2014 valedictorian is Bailey Holmes.

She earned a cumulative average of 96 after seven semesters. She is president of her class and the National Honor Society. She received the Rochester Institute of Technology Award and the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.

Holmes has been accepted at SUNY Potsdam, where she plans on studying at the Crane School of Music. She wants to major in music business. She is the daughter of Herbert and Cynthia Holmes of Morristown.

The Salutatorian is Kiernan Hughes. She earned a cumulative average of 94.33 after seven semesters. She will also receive a criminal justice certification from Northwest Tech BOCES. She completed an internship with R.B. Lawrence and has been accepted at St. Lawrence University, where she will study pre-med.

In addition to being a full time student, Kiernan works part time as a receptionist at United Helpers Riverledge. She is the daughter of Dustin and Christina Denesha of Morristown.
