MASSENA -- Acting Massena Police Chief Adam Love says an ongoing investigation that included the arrest of a longtime radio personality and former town supervisor could result in more charges against him or others.

On Feb. 12 at 2:10 p.m., village police charged Sanford T. Cook, 60, and Edward J. Slade, 24, both of 96 Cook St. with one count each of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police allegedly discovered heroin, crack cocaine and hypodermic needles.

Each was released with an appearance ticket for Massena Village Court on March 1 at 1:30 p.m.

Cook is a longtime radio host on 1340 AM WMSA, was a Massena town supervisor from 2001 to 2005 and has been a mainstay at Massena Central sporting events.

Police said their Road Patrol and Criminal Investigation Unit searched the residence following an investigation into illicit drug sales in the village.

"Today's arrests are part of the Massena Police Department's ongoing efforts to put an end to the illegal drug activity in our community,"
Love said in a prepared statement. "We will not sit by and allow this dangerous activity to continue here in Massena."
