Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said more than 3,500 families in St. Lawrence County would benefit from a new child tax credit included in the tentative state budget.

As part of the agreement reached by the Governor, the Senate, and the Assembly, families with incomes between $40,000 and $300,000 will be eligible to receive a new child tax credit of $350 per-year for three years, a release from the state budget division said.

The credit, which will be delivered as a check, will begin in 2014.

More than 1 million middle class families across New York State will benefit from a child tax credit that will be enacted as part of the 2013-2014 Budget, according to the release.

Across the state, the governor estimated more than 1 million people would be eligible for the credit.
