2012 Republican presidential nominee Governor Mitt Romney has endorsed Elise Stefanik, Republican of Willsboro running to represent the party in the 21st Congressional District race.
“After working with Elise, I know she will make the 21st District proud and she will deliver results. Elise understands the needs of small businesses and how to grow the local economy. She is a person of integrity. Every campaign is different, but values don’t change.”
“Governor Romney brings people together to find solutions, even when the choices are tough – he’s proven that time and time again; in the private sector, as a Republican governor in a Northeastern state, and as a presidential candidate. Gov. Romney's personal endorsement means a great deal to our campaign. Our country and economy would be better off if we had him as our president today,” Stefanik said.
Stefanik, a campaign aide to Romney’s running mate Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin in 2012, left Washington and established a residence in the North Country after that race. She faces Matt Doheny, a Watertown Republican, in a primary race June 24, and if successful, will run against Democrat Aaron Woolf of Elizabethtown in the November election.
Also in the race is Green Party member Matt Funiciello of Glens Falls.
