LOUISVILLE – A Massena woman was killed Sunday night in a two-vehicle head-on collision on NYS Hwy. 56, according to state police.
Lori L. Sovie, 48, died at Massena Memorial Hospital after being extricated from her 1997 Pontiac by the Louisville Fire Department, police said.
Police said the accident occurred at about 7:17 p.m. about one-quarter mile south of the intersection with NYS Hwy. 37.
Sovie was northbound when she crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2001 GMC SUV operated by Robert C. Rush, 51, of Massena, police said.
Sovie was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Rush and two passengers in his vehicle were also taken to Massena Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released, police said.
State police in Massena and the Troop "B" Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the crash.
