MASSENA -- The Town Council on Wednesday voted to pay $14,500 and extend their contract with Don Meissner through the end of 2018.
Meissner is a professional fisherman who the town pays to go to large outdoor sports conventions around the country and market Massena as a fishing destination.
Councilman Tom Miller said they are hopeful Meissner will be able to convince organizers of fishing tournaments to move them to the town.
He said town officials expect to soon meet with the organizer of a Plattsburgh tourney to discuss moving it to Massena.
