MASSENA -- Village police are warning of a scam where grifters are soliciting money for the department’s union under false pretenses.
A statement from Massena Police released Tuesday says someone is fraudulently collecting donations for the Massena Police Department Protective Association, which represents the patrolmen and sergeants.
Union officials say they are not soliciting money.
Village police ask anyone with information on the scam to call their station at 769-3577.
