MASSENA -- Two people were found dead in a Victory Road apartment this morning and village police are investigating the circumstances under which they died.
No foul play is suspected, according to Acting Chief Adam Love, but investigators aren’t sure of how they died.
“We received a call of two people that died unattended,” Love said. “We responded and since then we are actively investigating this incident.
“We are actively investigating circumstances in regard to the deaths.”
He said he wasn’t releasing their names, pending notification of next of kin. He did say the deceased are a man and a woman.
“If I can release more information, I will as it becomes available,” he said.
Police responded to 55 Victory Road Apt. 13 in the Massena Housing Authority complex around 6 a.m. Thursday morning, Love said.
A 911 call alerted authorities to the address. He said he did not have information on the caller’s identity.
The Department of Homeland Security is assisting Massena Police in their probe, Love said.
The dead will be autopsied at Massena Memorial Hospital this evening around 5:30 p.m.
“We’re not quite sure (how they died). That’s why they’re doing an autopsy. Dr. (Samuel) Livingstone is going to come in,” Love said.
