Police arrest fourth person following vandalism incident at Massena High School

MASSENA -- Village police have made a fourth arrest in a June vandalism incident at Massena High School.

On Thursday at 2:05 p.m., police charged an 18-year-old female with third-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.

Three other suspects -- all 17- and 18-year-old males -- were charged July 12 and 13 with the same offense in connection with the incident.

Police Chief Adam Love last month said the department is no longer identifying suspects under age 19 who are charged with misdemeanors and violations, at the advice of the district attorney.

Police had been naming teen suspects up to the day they announced the first arrest for trespass in connection with the school vandalism. The first two suspects were identified in their blotter report, but their names and addresses were redacted before the document was faxed to North Country Now. Also, a teen charged with traffic violations on July 7 was identified in the blotter report by name and address.

The vandalism took place on June 6, an incident which Superintendent Pat Brady shortly after described as “concerning and upsetting,” but offered few other details.

On Friday, Love said the investigation continues and more arrests are possible.

WWNY reported animals may have been abused, allegedly “two chickens were involved, a rabbit was kicked and a large bass was thrown into a tropical fish tank."
