Massena native joins Kids Korner Pediatric Center medical staff

MASSENA – Pediatrician and Massena native Aleesha Zysik, MD, has joined the medical staff at Massena Memorial Hospital and the practice of Kids Korner Pediatric Center.

Zysik is a Massena native who specializes in pediatric care and will see patients from newborn to age 18, including on well child, adolescent healthcare, sports medicine and physician fitness issues.

Zysik completed her pediatric residency at Albany Medical Center in May. She earned her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 2007.

“Adolescent and sports medicine are on the top of my list, but I also did a lot of physical fitness and obesity advocacy during residency,” said Zysik. “I think that because I make physical fitness a priority in my own life, I try to inspire my patients to do the same.

“You can give kids advice and make recommendations about how they can live a healthier and happier life until you're blue in the face, but if they can't relate to you and don't look up to you, they're never going to listen.

“The biggest reason I came back to Massena was because after traveling around the world and finally seeing an end to my residency training in Albany, I came to the realization that the best place to start my career as a pediatrician is the very place I spent my own childhood. I've been away for a long time and I'm enjoying finally having my family in close proximity and the life out in the country,” Zysik said.

Zysik is accepting new patients. To make an appointment, call 769-4700.
